About Traveldoko
Where should we go?
Traveldoko is a free, map-first travel planner for Japan. The name comes from どこ (doko) — Japanese for “where” — because that is the question every trip starts with. Traveldoko exists to answer it, and to turn the answers into a day-by-day plan you can follow on the ground.
Planning is part of the trip
After many trips across Japan, I learned something about myself: I enjoy the planning almost as much as the traveling. That part of the journey shouldn’t be outsourced — it should be fun.
Copying someone else's itinerary gets you a trip. Planning your own gets you your trip.
Shape the trip around what you love — temples or theme parks, viewpoints or onsen towns. What was never fun was the tooling: scattered blog posts, spreadsheets, a hundred saved pins with no plan connecting them. So Traveldoko puts everything on one full-screen map with the noise removed, and makes discovering places and arranging them into days feel like part of the trip itself.
The ambition is simple to say and hard to do: to be the best Japan travel planner in the market.

01Map-first discovery
Hundreds of attractions — temples, castles, viewpoints, museums and more — across all 47 prefectures, with photos and Google ratings. The top spots of every prefecture are hand-picked and ranked.
02Filters that matter
Cut the map by prefecture, category, or the Top 100 Japan list — and check off the must-sees you've already visited.
03Your places on the same map
Save your hotel and restaurants by pasting a Google Maps link, then see every spot relative to where you're staying.
04Day-by-day planning
Drag spots into days, let auto-fill draft a day for any prefecture, and watch each day's route draw itself on the map.
05Take it on the road
Open any leg in Google Maps for live transit directions, share a read-only trip link with friends, or export the plan to Google My Maps.

Why the logo looks like this
Three ideas, nested inside one another:
- A map pin — Traveldoko is map-first. Your trip starts from the map, not from a list.
- A magnifying glass inside the pin — the product's core verb is searching for where to go (どこ, doko).
- A red circle inside the glass — the 日の丸, Japan's flag.
Each element is the next one: the pin contains the search, and the search contains Japan.
